Easy elegant bridal or prom updo

Wedding season is upon us ladies! Whether you’re the bride-to-be (congrats) or want to be in the running for most fabulous guest, this super easy updo will make you the belle of the ball.

We’ve taken the elegance and simplicity of a chic low bun and pumped up the volume with textural twists and a bit of sparkle. It’s a really special look for a special day - that won’t take you hours to achieve.

Follow Miss Alex’s easy tutorial and you’ll be wedding-ready in a flash, leaving you plenty of time for a cheeky glass of fizz!

You’ll need

STEP 1 - Apply your Lush hair extensions

First up, brush through your hair so it’s lovely and smooth with no tangles.

Then it’s time to apply your Lush hair extensions as usual. Alex applies a four-clip and two three-clips, followed by two two-clips. Easy.

If that just sounded like we might as well be speaking a foreign language, don’t worry - just head over to our in-depth tutorial on how to clip in your hair extensions.

STEP 2 - Add some curls

Once you have clipped in your extensions, give them some texture and volume. Grab your curling wand and wrap around sections of hair of a similar width to your wand. Hold for a few seconds and release. It’s best to wrap your hair behind the wand so that your curls flow away from your face.

STEP 3 - Backcomb and section your crown

03.JPG

For a more flattering finished look, you need to add some volume to your crown. Do this by taking your comb and gently pushing against your roots to give it some backcombing body.

Once you have added some great volume, section off the hair from your crown ready for wrapping around your bun later.

You also need to take a good thick section from the side of your hair and clip it out of the way. You’ll be wrapping this around your bun later too.

STEP 4 - Create your bun

08.JPG

To make your bun, first gather up your hair into a low ponytail.

Now pull your pony out to one side, twist it around and push the hair up from the ends to give it some volume.

Then twist it all up into a bun and grip securely in place. Don’t stress if you can see the clips of your extensions, you’ll be covering them up later.

STEP 5 - Wrap your top section

10.JPG

Take down your top section of hair and gently brush over the top strands to smooth them out.

Now twist the ends of the section and wrap them around your bun. Grip the section in place and use your fingers to pull apart the twisted hair a little. This will make it look more voluminous.

STEP 6 - Wrap your side section

Repeat the process with that side section you clipped out of the way earlier on. Twist the ends of the section and then wrap them around your bun. Secure in place and gently pull the twisted hair apart a little.

STEP 7 - Finishing touches

To finish up your look, just pull out a few delicate strands of hair from around your face to frame it. Then place your gorgeous decorative hairpin above your bun and give everything a good spritz of hairspray to keep it in place.

How beautiful is that? Romantic, elegant and nowhere near as tricky as it looks!
