How to Get Big Loose Curls with Hair Extensions

Do you want to create a glamorous, beachy look that seriously turns heads? We've got the perfect recipe for big volume loose curls. Just take a set of Lush Hair Extensions, a curling wand and a tip or two from our favourite hair genius, Miss Alex Beauty and you’re good to go!

You’ll need:

Apply your first wefts

Start by creating your first section at the nape of your neck, then clip in your first weft. If you haven’t already, you might want to head over and check out our post on how to clip in hair extensions, which talks you through this part in more detail.

Start curling!

Now it's time to start curling. To make life easier (and less tangled!), separate the hair into two sections and bring each section in front of your shoulders to keep everything neat, tidy and easy to handle.

Pick up a strand of your extensions, along with a strand of your real hair and wrap it around the curling wand. Start with your curling wand behind the strand to create curls that sweep backwards and frame the face.

Apply your next wefts

You know what they say - “More is more!”, which means it's time to give your new glamorous, beachy look some extra volume. Once you've finished curling the bottom layer of hair and extensions,  create another section above it and add your next weft. Then simply repeat the process, curling a strand of extension and natural hair together until the whole section is bouncy and beautiful.

Add even more wefts!

Keep adding and curling your wefts until you’ve got the volume you want. Remember not to add any wefts too high though, as they’ll be hard to conceal if you don’t leave enough hair to cover them.

Take down your natural hair

Now it's time to blend your top layer of natural hair into your extensions. Take down the last of your hair and define your parting. This portion can be done without sectioning, simply curl individual strands, taking care not to curl too close to your head as this look is all about loose curls, not tight ones.

Pump up the volume

Take a comb and backcomb against the roots of your natural hair on top, taking care not to tamper with your wefts. A little bit of backcombing will help create a soft, tousled look whilst also helping to keep your wefts concealed.

Separate your curls

Finally, for the finishing touch, take your curls individually and pull them apart very gently to soften your look. Gently tease your curls apart to give yourself big, beautiful, beachy curls that will stop traffic! Finish up with a spritz of hairspray to keep your style on lock down.
